Repair Types
Repair types classify the work performed on a Work Order. They control which repair checks and questionnaires appear on that Work Order, and are used for maintenance code reporting.
Repair types are configured from the System Administrator Menu → Configuration dropdown → Repair Types & Questionnaires.
Before creating new repair types or maintenance codes, search the existing list to check whether what you need is already configured.
Creating a Repair Type
- From the System Administrator Menu, open the Configuration dropdown and select Repair Types & Questionnaires.
- Select New Repair Type.
- Enter a name for the repair type.
- Save the changes.
Maintenance Code Mappings
Maintenance codes are used to classify completed work for reporting. Each Work Order can record a Work Completed, Repair Reason, and Repair Cause — these values come from maintenance code mappings linked to the repair type.
For full instructions on creating code elements, mappings, and bulk importing, see Maintenance Codes.
Repair Checks
Repair checks are task checklists that appear on a Work Order when a specific repair type is selected. They ensure a consistent set of tasks is completed for a given type of work.
Adding Repair Checks to a Repair Type
- From Repair Types & Questionnaires, open the repair type to configure (or create a new one).
- In the Checklist Entries field, type to search for existing repair checks and select the ones to add.
- If a required check doesn't exist, select the + button to the right of the field to create one. Give it a name, a category, and an optional note.
- Save the repair type.
Making a Repair Type Available for an Asset Type
Repair types are made available to assets through Asset Group Mapping documents. Each mapping document corresponds to one or more asset types and lists the repair types available for those assets.
- From the System Administrator Menu, open the Configuration dropdown and select Asset / Component Group Mappings.
- Open the mapping document for the relevant asset type (for example, Passenger Vehicle).
- Add the repair type to the Repair Types field.
- Save the changes.
Once configured, the repair checks for that repair type will appear on Repair Work Orders where: - The asset's type is covered by a mapping that includes the repair type, and - That repair type is selected on the Work Order.
Questionnaires
Questionnaires can also be linked to repair types to capture additional structured information during a Work Order. To add a questionnaire to a repair type:
- Open the repair type from Repair Types & Questionnaires.
- In the Related Questionnaires field, type to search and select the applicable questionnaire.
- Save the changes.
The questionnaire will then appear on Work Orders where that repair type is selected. See Oil Sampling for an example of questionnaire use.
